Jon M. Knight, the managing director of MSP Direct Investments, Ltd., of Nassau, Bahamas, sources investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean, focuses primarily on ventures in aquaculture, agriculture, and fisheries.
Jon M. Knight also has deeply held convictions that individuals should give back as much as possible to their communities.
Jon M. Knight's philanthropic philosophy is not related to the corporate bottom line. Rather, he seeks out individuals and groups in need that he can directly assist. His first endeavor dealt with improving the living conditions of young Bahamians. Over a period of three years, Knight directly donated some $75,000 for children's medical needs. To magnify the effectiveness of his donations, he channeled much of this aid through the Oncology Referral Network of America (ORNOA) which could find the best doctors who donate their time to causes and hospitals that would negotiate discounted prices for services to the needy children.
After that, Knight turned his attention to agriculture. From his research, he knew that this sector of the economy was underdeveloped in the Bahamas. His company partnered with the Bahamas Agriculture and Aquaculture Foundation with the intent of finding capital for expansion of farming and fishing businesses. This effort has raised about $750,000 to date.
